CULTS AND SECTS

Is it possible to be sincerely wrong? If sincerity and zeal alone determined what is "Truth," then many of the so called cults and sects would have an argument almost second to none, in favor of its teaching. Many of these organizations have flooded the world with a succession of leaflets, pamphlets and books proclaiming their doctrines; and the radio waves have been used extensively to broadcast their ideas, and their members are untiring in their proselytizing zeal.

All of this would be very commendable if the things these cults and sects preached were in accordance with Divine Truth, but such is not the case.

In their case something more than sincerity and zeal and proselytizing fervor is required in the things of God and that is a mind disciplined to seek and accept the truths of God's Word.

Take for example the Jehovah's Witnesses:

The Jehovah's Witnesses will "compass land and sea to make one proselyte" only to lead him into greater error (Matt.23:15). Jehovah's Witnesses have never hesitated to hold up the failings of all other religious people for the world to see. They classify us as part of Satan's Organization. A sect that so roughly handles the opinions and teachings of others must, itself. be prepared to have its own ideas ruthlessly examined. If they are based upon the Rock of Truth, it has nothing to fear, but if not, its members are well advised to do what Paul said do, "search the Scriptures," (Acts 17:11).

Yet, sad to say, the Bible, this very book, reveals that Jehovah's Witnesses are not prepared to do what it asks of others. They quote many passages f rom the Bible, but many are either quoted out of context, or are misapplied in order to conform to the teaching of the doctrines of this sect.

The reader will understand that it is impossible for us to thoroughly refute all the errors propagated by the "Jehovah's Witnesses," within the compass of this short article.

This sect was first known as "Millennial Dawnism," later as "The International Bible Students," and in 1931, this was altered to "Jehovah's Witnesses - A group who claims God is guiding them - ought to know what to call themselves. Maybe it is not God who is confused (1 Cor-14:33) but the Jehovah's Witnesses!
